Former Sky Sports journalist Peter O'Rourke says Man United are ready to push for the signing of Everton center-back Jarrad Branthwaite in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils hierarchy are confident of the possibility of making the England international the first signing under the Ineos era.

Man United representatives are optimistic that an offer of around £60m to £70m will be enough to force Everton to sell him.

It is believed Everton could be forced to sell the 21-year-old before June 30 so they can balance their 2023/24 financial books and avoid further points cut next season.

Branthwaite remains Man Utd top defender as the club look to sign a reliable new defender after suffering an injury in the department.

The 21-year-old center-back who scored in Everton 2-0 win over Liverpool has helped the Toffees maintain a clean sheet 10 in 31 Premier League appearances this season.
